Glorifying Jesus
John 16:14
“He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.”
Since we have the Spirit of Christ living in us, we can be certain that the Holy Spirit will always lead us in paths that glorify God, but we must always be willing to follow along the Path.
Jesus said that He is the Way, so that means He is the Path. We know we enter in through the narrow gate by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. But we are led along the narrow path by our Guide, Friend, Teacher and Counselor – the Holy Spirit.
Problems arise more frequently for us when we re-assert our own lordship over our lives and want to do things our own way. We take ourselves off the narrow path through our failure to listen and follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit. He always wants to lead us in the way of Jesus, but He is a gentleman and will not force us to obey.
Because of the finished work of Jesus on the Cross, everything the Father has is available to true believers by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit receives everything we need daily to stay on the path of abundant life now, and throughout all eternity, but we must choose to ask for His leadership and obediently follow Him.
Our lives bring glory to God when we do.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Thank the Father for Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Tell Him you want to better hear and follow the Holy Spirit in everything you do today.
Bring glory to God today as you walk the narrow path.
