Become A Light
Ephesians 5:11-14
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”
Yesterday we learned that we were once darkness, but now we are light. The light bears fruit – goodness, righteousness and truth. I imagine we can all list many “fruitless deeds of darkness” from our many years before we were born again as children of light.
I do not believe it is helpful to our Christian witness to keep re-hashing to ourselves and others the many sordid, explicit details of our past. We must use discretion in sharing our testimonies so that we are not glorifying the devil.
However, I believe great benefit comes when we are honest and transparent about our weaknesses, past and present. His strength is perfected in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9), but we must be willing to admit them, and let Him work in our lives to change us. We should always do this in such a way that God gets the Glory for our transformation.
Done in the proper way, exposing our past to the light illuminates our present walk in Christ and provides for future opportunities for His Light to shine through us to positively impact others.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell the Father you want your life illuminated by His Truth, Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and discernment to live your life, and share your testimony, in such a way that it glorifies God.
Become a light.
